This news shocked the entire NTU community and has given rise to many theories on why the student stabbed his professor before jumping to his death. This has also raised the question on whether citizen journalism can be a good thing for Singapore and also whether mainstream news channels like the Straits Times is being objective in their reporting. His grades had slipped, and his scholarship was revoked for a month. He became a deranged math genius who lost all sense of rationality and his professor did not give him good grades. He had argue with his professor. Maybe he does not have enough money to pay his rent or his parents does not have enough money.

ReplyDelete1. David Hartanto Widjaja was afraid that the parent’s would be sad about the termination of his scholarship and discreetly did not let it slip when conversing with them. However, when he could not pay for the school fees, he was desperate and threatened the Professor Chan to give him back his scholarship with a knife. When he refused, David Hartanto Widjaja stabbed him and ran away. He regretted what he had done and did not want to face the consequences and this lead to jumping down the building. (Jasmine)
2. David Hartanto Widjaja played too much computer games and did not have time to do the human resource management project. He wanted to change the results of his grades in Professor Chan’s office and was caught by Professor Chan. David Hartanto Widjaja do not want anyone to know so, he wanted to kill the Professor. 3. Professor Chan was on drug and during the meeting; David Hartanto Widjaja blackmailed him and wanted him to give him back his scholarship. Professor Chan panicked and slashed him at the neck. When Professor Chan starts persisting to see the project, he panicked and starts to stress. Stress leads to depression and it was stated that for a few days, he did not make contact with his warlord friends which was strange for a computer game addict. I feel that David Hartanto Widjaja may be under too much stress and was crazy and thus, killed the Professor and slit his own wrist. Then, he jumped. (Jasmine)
