"Is it ethical for the media to use photoshop to enhance the appearance of a person?"

  1. If it is for advertising reasons I think it is right to use photoshop because if they use the original picture of a specific person to advertise, the object might not sell as well. But if it used to deceive people I do not agree that the use of photoshop is needed as it shows that you do not like the way your body is.

  2. yes... If they never use photoshop, the efforts put in the product would be a waste as the product can't be sold out.

  4. I do not think it is ethtical. Because this is just obviously cheating people's money blantantly. But I know they are doing this to earn money to survive but isnt it wrong to lie?

  5. I don't think it is ethtical to do so...It is simply cheating innocen people out of their money to buy some unless product... Even though they cannot sell well without the advertising, but doing so is not right afterall...

  8. No . they are being disrespectful to those who are ugly and they are lying just to sell a product which i think is not good although it can help sell the product

  10. I feel that they have no reason to deceive people like that. Maybe their magazine has not been selling well, but this is no way to promote it. Those who views it and feels that it is interesting, and buys it, may feel cheated when he/she realises that actually, Grace Hill does not look like that, is all a lie, the skinny pills are fakes and if they spent a lot of money buying them, all for nothing, they may not buy that magazine again. Hence, I think that if the magazine wants to promote a product to the "audiences", they should not lie and edit the truth.

  11. Yes. The photo will be wasted and the effort of the model will be wasted as she posted a very good post. The people who is doing the photoshop did a very good job. After the editing, the photo will attract lots of customers.

  12. Yes i think that the model in the magazine is attractive. However making her too attractive would make the viewers know that the photo in the magazine is edited and people might not be attracted as they used to be.

  14. i think it is ethical for the media to use photoshop to enhance the appearance of a person as they can at least make the person look better so that they will attract customers to buy their products, but if they did not use photoshop to enhance the appearance of a person, maybe some people would not buy their product as they think that the appearance of the person is not that good. but using photoshop may also cause losing the trust of the customers who bought the product and knew that everything is not real.

  15. It is both right and wrong. It is wrong in the sense that the producers are not showing buyers the real image of the person and therefore is bluffing the buyer. It is right as if the producers do not modify the image they would not be able to attract buyers.
